Championship Weekend at the Creek to Decide 2021

September 29th, 2021 – Catawba, NC

The final points race of the 2021 season at Mountain Creek Speedway is being headlines as “Championship Weekend at the Creek” Saturday and Sunday, October 9th and 10th. Track championships will be decided in all flat kart and outlaw kart divisions. This year, track owners and promoters Adam and Rebecca Stewart decided to invest with improvements to the facility over the winter and experiment with a schedule of flat karts on Saturday and outlaw kart on Sunday afternoons producing positive reviews.

There are seventeen different divisions competing on regular Saturday/Sunday events. Six of them are growing into big battles for the track championship at Mountain Creek Speedway. With just seven points separating them, Adalynn Owens holds a slight 690 to 683 advantage over Carson Hammil in the Cadet 206 division but don’t count out Blaise Keene sitting forty markers behind with a mathematical shot at the championship. It’s a family affair for the 206 Medium championship as cousins Matt and Mark Hammill will battle it out for the title. Matt holds a forty-six point advantage over Mark going into the final race of the season.

It has turned into a two horse race for the track championship in the 206 Junior Gold division. Only thirty points, 652 to 622 separate Kaidyn Passour from Mekhi Harshaw as the two will battle it out for the 2021 track crown. Theres still a fight for the third position in points as Cole Gudmestead is ahead of Jackson McCleary by just ten markers. Cliff Lovendhal leads the points standings in the Predator 375 division with 532 points but there are four drivers with a mathematical shot at the title with Ashton Johnson sitting second just thirty points back, David Lindsay thirty-seven points behind and Dustin Cade forty points out of the lead.

In the outlaw kart classes it appears to be a lock for the Yamaha 450 title for Lou Mattesen and Colt Currie in the Open division. The battle in the junior classes are quite different as it has become a three kart race for the Box Stock division title between Cole Thomas, Karter Beattie and Wyatt Miller. Point leader, Thomas leads with 763 points with Beattie in second, thirty-three points back. Wyatt Miller sits in third forty-five markers behind but still with a legitimate opportunity for the track championship.

All eyes are going to be on the Beginner Box Stock division as they have closest battle for the Mountain Creek Speedway track championship. Brexton has a scant, two point lead over Chase DeMarco going into the final race of the season. The Beginner Box Stock and Box Stock have proven to be the two classes with the toughest competition. A lot of eyes will be watching both classes to see who walks away as this years division champions.

Gates for the Championship Weekend at the Creek will open at 3pm, Saturday October 9th for all flat kart competitors with practice beginning at 5pm. Gate for all outlaw kart competitors will open Sunday October, 10th at 1pm with practice beginning at 3pm. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year.
