Clash Extended to Two Days
Clash Extended to Two Days, Money Paid to Multiple Divisions
May 12th, 2021 ~ Catawba, NC
This weekend is the 4th annual Clash at the Creek at Mountain Creek Speedway. The tracks marquee event has been extended to two days of competition with flat kart racing Saturday and outlaw karting racing Sunday. Instead of traditionally paying one large purse to the Open division, track owners and promoters, Adam and Rebecca Stewart have decided to take that purse and spread it across multiple classes. “We wanted to make sure other competitors got a piece of the pie out of the Clash at the Creek” said track owner and promoter, Adam Stewart.
$100 will be awarded to the winner of the Cadet, Junior Lite, Jr. Gold, 206 Medium and 206 Sumo division. While 206 Heavy, Stock Appearing and Predator 375 will all race for $200 to win. The outlaw kart portion of the Clash at the Creek will see the youngsters of the Cadet division and the Yamaha 450 Stock class both race for $100 to win while the Beginner Box Stock and Box Stock division will race for $200 to win. The final headlining division of the weekend will be the Opens who will race for $500 to win.
“It’s a fantastic idea” said track public relations director, Derek Pernesiglio said. “The kids get to feel like they are a part of something this year and over a dozen divisions have a chance to go home with some cash in their pocket.” Saturday flat cart gates open at 3 PM with practice starting at 5 PM. Sunday outlaw karting racing will see the gates open at 1 PM with practice starting at 3 PM.
The Clash at the Creek will also count as a points race for all regular Mountain Creek Speedway divisions as part of the tracks 2021 schedule of racing. The track will also be available for testing and practice days throughout the year.
